About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join their supportive team in Sunderland . In this vital role, you will oversee the provision for students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the highest quality of support and achieve their full potential. This hybrid position involves both on-site coordination and remote administrative duties. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing effective strategies, fostering an inclusive learning environment, and collaborating closely with staff, parents, and external agencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the school's Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) policy and strategy.
• Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the SEND provision, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
• Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure effective support for students with SEND.
• Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with SEND, providing guidance and support to teaching staff.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to the school's safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a recognized SENCO qualification or equivalent experience.
• Significant experience working with students with a range of Special Educational Needs.
• In-depth knowledge of current SEND legislation and best practice in inclusive education.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload, work collaboratively, and maintain confidentiality.
