About the Role
Our client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support Assistant to work within a supportive primary school setting in Reading . You will provide tailored assistance to students with diverse learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum and thrive in their educational journey. This role requires patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting both individual students and small groups. You will work closely with teachers and SEN coordinators to implement support strategies and ensure an inclusive learning environment for all children.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with identified SEN needs.
- Assist students in accessing lessons, completing tasks, and participating in school activities.
- Implement specific learning plans and strategies devised by teachers and SEN coordinators.
- Support the social, emotional, and physical well-being of students.
- Help to manage student behavior, promoting a positive and respectful learning environment.
- Assist with the preparation of learning materials and resources.
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN is highly desirable.
- A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a school team.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE level or equivalent).
- Willingness to undergo safeguarding checks and relevant training.
