Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to support students within a mainstream primary school in Bradford . This role is vital in providing tailored assistance to children with diverse learning needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and thrive alongside their peers. You will work closely with class teachers and SEN co-ordinators to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and provide targeted support both in and out of the classroom. This is a fulfilling opportunity for someone committed to inclusive education and making a positive difference in the lives of children with special educational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with identified SEN.
• Assist class teachers in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
• Help pupils to access the curriculum, adapt learning materials, and participate in activities.
• Support the social and emotional development of students, fostering positive peer interactions.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external specialists to support pupil progress.
• Supervise students during break times and lunch, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Requirements

• Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
• Understanding of SEN, including common learning difficulties and disabilities.
• Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) are essential.
