Sports Development Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and passionate Sports Development Officer to join their team in Newcastle upon Tyne . You will be instrumental in developing and delivering a range of sports programmes and initiatives aimed at increasing participation across all age groups and abilities within the community. This role involves fostering strong relationships with local schools, sports clubs, and community groups to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of sports development principles and a proven track record of engaging diverse populations in sports and recreational activities, working towards creating a more active and healthier region.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evaluate sports development programmes to meet community needs.
• Identify opportunities for new sports initiatives and partnerships with local organisations.
• Engage with schools, clubs, and community groups to promote participation in sports and physical activity.
• Organise and manage sports events, competitions, and festivals.
• Monitor and report on the impact and effectiveness of sports development programmes.
• Provide support and resources to local sports clubs and volunteers.

Requirements

• Experience in sports development, coaching, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of sports governance and national governing body requirements.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.
• Proven ability to plan, organise, and deliver successful sports programmes and events.
• A relevant degree or qualification in Sports Science, Sports Management, or a related discipline.
