Sports Development Officer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive and organised Sports Development Officer to join their team in Newcastle upon Tyne . In this role, you will be instrumental in promoting and developing sports participation opportunities for all ages and abilities within the region. You will work closely with local clubs, schools, and community groups to create sustainable sports programmes. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about community sports and looking to make a tangible difference in increasing physical activity levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate sports development programmes and initiatives.
• Engage with stakeholders including local authorities, sports clubs, schools, and community organisations.
• Identify funding opportunities and assist in writing grant applications to support sports development projects.
• Organise and deliver sports-related events, workshops, and coaching sessions.
• Monitor participation levels and gather data to report on the impact of development programmes.
• Promote inclusive participation in sport, targeting under-represented groups.

Requirements

• Experience in sports development, coaching, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of the sports landscape and participation barriers.
• Excellent project management, organisational, and communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures in sport.
• A degree or equivalent qualification in Sports Science, Sports Development, or a related discipline is preferred.
