About the Role

Our client, a leading organisation dedicated to promoting sports and physical activity in Northern Ireland , is seeking a motivated Sports Development Officer . This role focuses on increasing participation in sports and physical recreation across various community groups and demographics in Belfast . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a range of sports development initiatives, forging partnerships with local clubs, schools, and community organisations. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual to make a tangible impact on public health and well-being through sport within the Leisure & Sports sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and deliver community-based sports programs and events to encourage active lifestyles.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including sports clubs, schools, local authorities, and community groups.
• Identify opportunities for funding and assist in writing grant applications to support sports development projects.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sports development initiatives, reporting on outcomes and impact.
• Promote inclusive participation, ensuring sports programs are accessible to all members of the community, particularly underrepresented groups.
• Organise training and development opportunities for volunteers and sports coaches.

Requirements

• Experience in sports development , community engagement, or a related field.
• A good understanding of the sports landscape in Northern Ireland and national initiatives.
• Excellent project management, communication, and networking skills.
• Ability to engage with diverse groups and foster positive relationships.
• Relevant qualification in Sports Science, Coaching, Community Development, or a related discipline.
• Valid driving license and access to a vehicle for travel.
