About the Role
Our client seeks a passionate and energetic Sports Development Officer to join their team in Belfast . This role focuses on promoting and increasing participation in sports and physical activities across the local community, with a particular emphasis on engaging underserved groups. You will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering a range of sports programs and initiatives designed to improve health, wellbeing, and social inclusion. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of community sports development and a proven ability to engage diverse populations through sport.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and evaluate a variety of community sports programs and events.
- Work with schools, community groups, and local sports clubs to increase participation and develop sports infrastructure.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities to support sports development initiatives.
- Promote sports and physical activity through various communication channels, including social media and local press.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, including local authorities, sports governing bodies, and volunteers.
- Monitor and report on the impact and effectiveness of sports development projects.
Requirements
- Experience in sports development, community engagement, or a related field.
- A qualification in Sports Science, Sports Management, or a related discipline is advantageous.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with people from all backgrounds.
- Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures in sport.
- A proactive approach and a passion for promoting health and wellbeing through sport.
