Sports Development Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Sports Development Officer to drive the growth of sports participation and activity within the Newcastle upon Tyne area. You will play a crucial role in developing and implementing strategic initiatives aimed at increasing access to sports for all ages and abilities. This position involves working closely with local sports clubs, schools, community groups, and local authorities to create sustainable programmes. You will be instrumental in fostering a vibrant sporting culture, promoting healthy lifestyles, and identifying talent, ensuring sports programmes are inclusive, accessible, and impactful across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver a range of sports development programmes and projects to meet identified community needs.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners, including sports governing bodies, schools, and local authorities in Newcastle .
• Organise and manage sports events, competitions, and festivals to encourage participation and engagement.
• Monitor and evaluate programme effectiveness, providing regular reports on progress and impact.
• Secure funding and resources to support sports development initiatives through grant applications and sponsorship.
• Promote sports participation opportunities through various communication channels, engaging diverse community groups.

Requirements

• Experience in sports development , community sports, or a related field.
• Proven ability to plan, manage, and deliver successful sports programmes and events.
• Strong networking and partnership-building skills with various stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• A degree or relevant qualification in Sport Science, Sports Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
