Sports Development Officer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a motivated Sports Development Officer to drive participation in sports and physical activity across Reading and the surrounding Berkshire area. You will be responsible for planning, implementing, and promoting sports programmes, engaging with local communities, schools, and sports clubs. This role requires a proactive individual passionate about increasing access to sports and fostering a healthier lifestyle within the community, working collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to increase sports participation across target demographics.
• Organize and manage sports events, festivals, and outreach programmes.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, sports clubs, and local authorities.
• Seek funding opportunities and manage project budgets effectively.
• Promote the benefits of sport and physical activity through various communication channels in Reading .

Requirements

• Experience in sports development, community engagement, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of sports governance and the sports development landscape.
• Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage with diverse community groups and stakeholders.
• A relevant qualification in sports development, sports science, or a related discipline is preferred for this Reading role.
