Sports Development Officer

About the Role

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and community-focused Sports Development Officer to join their team in Portsmouth . This role is pivotal in promoting sports participation across the local community, developing initiatives for various age groups and abilities, and fostering partnerships with schools, clubs, and other organisations. You will be instrumental in increasing engagement in physical activity and building a sustainable sporting infrastructure within the Leisure & Sports framework, making a tangible difference in people's lives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement sports development programmes to increase community participation.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local sports clubs, schools, and community groups.
• Organise and deliver sports events, festivals, and coaching sessions for diverse demographics.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programmes, reporting on outcomes and impact.
• Seek funding opportunities and manage project budgets to support sports development initiatives.

Requirements

• Degree or qualification in Sports Development, Physical Education, or a related field.
• Experience in project management and event organisation within the sports sector.
• Excellent communication, networking, and stakeholder management skills.
• Passion for sports and community engagement.
• Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures in sport.
