Sports Event Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly organized Sports Event Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and post-event analysis of various sporting events in Derby . You will be responsible for managing all aspects of event logistics, including venue selection, budgeting, marketing, staffing, and stakeholder relations. This hybrid role requires a blend of strategic planning and hands-on execution, with flexibility to coordinate remotely and manage on-site operations. The ideal candidate is a dynamic problem-solver with a passion for sports and a proven ability to deliver successful, memorable events on time and within budget. You will ensure a seamless experience for athletes, spectators, and partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive event plans, timelines, and budgets for various sporting events.
• Source and manage venues, suppliers, and contractors, negotiating contracts and service level agreements.
• Oversee event marketing, promotion, and ticket sales strategies to maximize attendance and revenue.
• Manage on-site event operations, including staffing, security, and participant experience.
• Coordinate with sports governing bodies, local authorities, and emergency services.
• Conduct post-event analysis, gather feedback, and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Sports Management, Marketing, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing sports events of varying scales.
• Proven track record of successful event planning, execution, and budget management.
• Excellent understanding of event logistics, risk management, and health & safety protocols.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances in a hybrid environment.
