Sports Facilities Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and proactive Sports Facilities Manager to oversee the operations and maintenance of their sports facilities in Portsmouth . This hands-on role involves ensuring that all sports venues are safe, well-maintained, and equipped to host a variety of athletic activities. You will manage a small team of facility staff, coordinate maintenance schedules, oversee budgets for upkeep, and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations. This position is essential for providing a high-quality environment for athletes and the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the day-to-day operations of sports facilities, including fields, courts, gyms, and changing rooms.
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules for grounds, equipment, and buildings.
• Manage budgets for facility maintenance, repairs, and operational supplies.
• Ensure all facilities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialized maintenance or repair work.
• Manage and train facility staff, ensuring efficient team performance.

Requirements

• Proven experience in facilities management, preferably within a sports or leisure context.
• Strong knowledge of building maintenance, groundskeeping, and health & safety standards.
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage budgets effectively and control costs.
• Experience in staff supervision and team leadership.
• First Aid certification is desirable.
