About the Role
Our client is seeking a strategic and proactive Sports Media Relations Specialist to manage and enhance their public image and media presence in Brighton . This role involves developing compelling media narratives, fostering strong relationships with journalists and broadcasters, and managing all aspects of media communications for sports events and personalities. You will be responsible for generating positive press coverage and ensuring consistent brand messaging across all media platforms. This hybrid role offers the flexibility to work remotely while also engaging with stakeholders locally.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic media relations plans to support sports events, athletes, and brand initiatives.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with sports journalists, editors, producers, and influencers.
- Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other communication materials.
- Serve as a media spokesperson and prepare spokespeople for interviews and public appearances.
- Monitor media coverage, analyze results, and provide regular reports on media activity and sentiment.
- Manage crisis communications and provide timely, accurate information during sensitive situations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in media relations, public relations, or communications, preferably in the sports sector.
- Demonstrated success in securing positive media coverage and managing media inquiries.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of the media landscape and digital communication channels.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, managing tasks remotely and attending in-person meetings.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
