About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly strategic and analytical Strategic Sourcing Manager to drive procurement excellence from Cardiff . This role focuses on developing and executing long-term sourcing strategies for key categories of spend, aiming to deliver significant value through cost reduction, risk mitigation, and innovation. You will collaborate with senior management and cross-functional teams to align sourcing initiatives with business objectives, ensuring a competitive advantage for the organization. The successful candidate will possess deep market knowledge and exceptional negotiation skills to build and maintain strong, mutually beneficial supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute category strategies for significant spend areas to achieve optimal value.
- Lead complex sourcing projects, including RFPs, RFQs, and contract negotiations with major suppliers.
- Analyze market trends, supplier capabilities, and cost drivers to identify sourcing opportunities and risks.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Develop and implement supplier performance management programs to ensure continuous improvement.
- Monitor supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure business continuity.
Requirements
- Extensive experience (8+ years) in strategic sourcing, category management, or a similar procurement leadership role.
- Demonstrated success in leading large-scale sourcing initiatives and achieving substantial cost savings.
- Expertise in contract negotiation, legal terms, and risk assessment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
- Excellent leadership and influencing skills, with experience managing cross-functional teams.
- Relevant degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field; CIPS qualification is highly desirable.
