Structural Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Structural Engineer to join their established practice in Newcastle upon Tyne . You will be responsible for the structural design and analysis of a wide range of building projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with all relevant standards. This role involves close collaboration with architects, contractors, and other consultants to deliver innovative and robust structural solutions. You will be a key contributor to projects across various sectors, enhancing the built environment in Tyne and Wear and beyond, and supporting the development of the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake structural analysis and design for new build and refurbishment projects using industry-standard software.
• Produce detailed calculations, drawings, and specifications for structural elements in various materials (steel, concrete, timber, masonry).
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and provide engineering support to contractors.
• Collaborate effectively with project teams, including architects, M&E consultants, and clients, to achieve project objectives.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and building regulations.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians within the team.

Requirements

• Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, working towards or holding chartered engineer status (e.g., CEng MICE/MIStructE).
• A minimum of 4-6 years' experience in structural engineering design, preferably within a consultancy environment.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, Robot Structural Analysis) and CAD software.
• Strong knowledge of materials science, structural mechanics, and construction techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
