About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Structural Engineer to join their busy office in Reading . You will be responsible for the structural design and analysis of a diverse range of building projects, from residential developments to commercial and industrial structures. This role requires a meticulous approach to design, a deep understanding of structural principles, and the ability to work collaboratively with architects, contractors, and other consultants. You will play a key part in ensuring the safety, stability, and integrity of structures, contributing to the successful delivery of projects within the Berkshire region and beyond. Key Responsibilities
- Undertake structural analysis and design for new build projects and refurbishments across various sectors.
- Prepare detailed structural drawings, calculations, and specifications using industry-standard software.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and Building Regulations.
- Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and provide technical support to site teams.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, contractors, and clients to achieve optimal design solutions.
- Perform structural surveys and assessments for existing buildings, providing reports and recommendations.
Requirements
- Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural specialisation.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in structural engineering design.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, Robot Structural Analysis) and AutoCAD.
- Thorough knowledge of structural materials (steel, concrete, timber) and construction methods.
- Excellent technical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Professional membership (e.g., IStructE, ICE) and progress towards Chartered Engineer status is advantageous.
