Structural Engineer – Architectural Glazing & Façades Location: London / South East | Hybrid working
Work on bespoke architectural glazing projects where your engineering expertise helps turn ambitious designs into finished structures.
Our client, a specialist architectural glazing and façade contractor, is looking for a Structural Engineer to join its team. Working closely with designers, architects, contractors and suppliers, you’ll develop structural solutions for glass, aluminium and associated support systems.
The role
You’ll contribute throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concepts and calculations through to installation and site support.
Your responsibilities will include:
*
Preparing structural calculations and analysis for glazing, façade systems, connections and supporting structures.
*
Developing practical solutions that meet design, performance and buildability requirements.
*
Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical submissions.
*
Assessing building movements and their effects on façade systems.
*
Coordinating with internal teams, architects, contractors and suppliers.
*
Supporting design reviews, value engineering and the resolution of site queries.
*
Attending project meetings and site inspections as required.
About you
You’ll have a degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or a related discipline, alongside experience in structural design.
Experience with architectural glazing, façades, structural glass or aluminium systems would be particularly valuable. Engineers from a broader structural background with relevant transferable skills are also encouraged to apply.
You should bring:
*
Strong structural analysis and calculation skills.
*
An understanding of relevant British Standards and Eurocodes.
*
Experience using structural analysis software.
*
A practical approach to detailing, connections and construction.
*
Clear communication skills and confidence working with project teams.
*
The ability to manage your workload across multiple projects.
Chartered status, or progress towards chartership, would be advantageous.
The opportunity
This is an opportunity to take a hands-on engineering role within a specialist business, contribute to technically challenging projects and see your designs progress from concept to installation.
