About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Structural Mechanical Engineer to join their established team based in Reading . This role is integral to ensuring the integrity and safety of mechanical structures across a range of demanding applications. You will perform detailed stress analysis, define material requirements, and validate designs through rigorous testing. This position requires an on-site presence to leverage specialized testing equipment and facilitate close collaboration with design and manufacturing teams. Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed structural analysis on mechanical components and systems using FEA software.
- Define material specifications and select appropriate materials based on performance requirements and environmental conditions.
- Develop test plans and oversee physical testing to validate structural integrity and performance.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications to ensure accurate implementation.
- Collaborate with design engineers to optimize structures for strength, weight, and cost-effectiveness.
- Document all analysis, testing procedures, and results in comprehensive engineering reports.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related structural engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in structural analysis and mechanical design.
- Expertise in using FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) for stress, strain, and fatigue analysis.
- Strong understanding of material science, mechanics of materials, and failure analysis.
- Excellent technical report writing skills and the ability to present complex findings clearly.
