About the Role
Our client is looking for a seasoned Substation Engineer with expertise in High Voltage systems to join their critical infrastructure team in Sheffield . This role is vital for the design, construction, and maintenance of electrical substations that form the backbone of the nation's power distribution network within the energy sector . You will ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of high-voltage electrical systems, playing a key role in maintaining grid stability and supporting energy delivery across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer high-voltage substation layouts, including equipment specifications (transformers, switchgear, busbars).
- Develop protection and control schemes for substations.
- Oversee the construction, installation, and commissioning of substation projects.
- Conduct site inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of substation equipment.
- Ensure all designs and installations comply with national and international standards and safety regulations.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and coordinate with external contractors and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in high-voltage substation design and engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of substation components, power systems, and protection relays.
- Proficiency with CAD software and substation design tools.
- Experience with grid codes and regulatory compliance in the energy industry .
