Support Worker (Learning Disabilities)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker specializing in learning disabilities to join their Community & Social Care team in Stoke-on-Trent . In this hands-on role, you will provide essential support to individuals with learning disabilities, enabling them to live fulfilling and independent lives within their community. You will assist with daily living tasks, promote social inclusion, and support personal development, fostering a person-centered approach. Key Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and domestic tasks, with respect and dignity.
• Support clients in engaging in community activities, hobbies, and social events to promote inclusion.
• Encourage and support individuals in developing life skills, promoting independence and self-confidence.
• Administer medications as prescribed, following strict protocols and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
• Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and other support staff to ensure a holistic approach to care.
• Observe and report any changes in a client's condition or well-being to the relevant supervisor or manager.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Support Worker, particularly with individuals with learning disabilities, is highly desirable.
• A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable adults and promoting their independence.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport.
• Understanding of safeguarding principles and person-centered care practices.
• Ability to work flexibly, including shifts, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
