Support Worker (Learning Disabilities)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker specializing in learning disabilities to join their team in Belfast . This role is focused on providing person-centred care and support to individuals, enabling them to live fulfilling and independent lives within their community. You will work closely with clients in their own homes and in community settings, offering practical assistance, emotional support, and encouragement. This is a hands-on role that requires empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to promoting dignity and inclusion for individuals with learning disabilities in Belfast .

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct, personal care and support to individuals with learning disabilities, respecting their dignity and promoting independence.
• Assist clients with daily living tasks, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management, and household chores.
• Support clients to engage in community activities, social events, hobbies, and employment opportunities.
• Implement and follow individual support plans, working collaboratively with the client, their family, and the wider support team.
• Accurately record observations, progress, and any incidents in line with organisational policies and procedures.
• Promote a safe and supportive environment, identifying and reporting any safeguarding concerns promptly.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Support Worker or in a similar caregiving role, preferably with individuals with learning disabilities.
• Understanding of the principles of person-centred care and safeguarding vulnerable adults.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
• Reliability, patience, and a compassionate nature.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and development, including QCF/NVQ qualifications.
• Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required.
