Support Worker (Learning Disabilities)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to individuals with learning disabilities, assisting with daily living tasks such as personal care, household chores, and managing finances.
• Support service users in engaging in community activities, hobbies, and social opportunities, promoting independence and choice.
• Develop and implement person-centred support plans in collaboration with the individual, their families, and relevant professionals.
• Administer medication as prescribed, following strict protocols and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
• Support individuals to access health appointments and other essential services, acting as an advocate where necessary.
• Promote positive behaviour support strategies and help individuals manage challenges in a constructive manner.

Requirements

• Previous experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities or complex needs is highly desirable.
• Understanding of person-centred planning and positive behaviour support principles.
• Excellent communication and listening skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
• A patient, empathetic, and non-judgmental attitude towards clients.
• Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and potentially sleep-in duties as required.
• A commitment to promoting the independence and dignity of all individuals in Bradford .
