Job Description
Supported Living Development Manager Staffordshire Full Time, Permanent £38,000–£40,000
Do you want to shape Learning Difficulties services, WITHOUT holding the registration, then we have the opportunity for you!
What this role offers you
- Join a supported living provider as a Development Manager in Staffordshire, with a clear focus on growing and developing new services.
- Use your commercial judgement and commitment to quality to turn opportunities into support that makes a meaningful difference to people’s lives.
- Move towards development if you’re an experienced supported living manager, or bring your service development experience and strong understanding of the sector.
- Focus on building services and creating the conditions for them to succeed, rather than holding the service registration. This is not a Registered Manager post.
From opportunity to opening
You’ll help bring the different elements of a new service together, balancing local demand, individual support needs and operational readiness. Your work is likely to include:
- Identifying opportunities to develop supported living services across Staffordshire.
- Building relationships with commissioners, referral partners, housing providers and other relevant stakeholders.
- Exploring local needs and helping assess whether proposed services are suitable, sustainable and commercially viable.
- Contributing to service proposals, development plans and referral discussions.
- Working alongside operational colleagues to plan new services and support a well-organised launch.
- Keeping development activity moving, tracking progress and addressing practical barriers.
- Keeping people’s choices, independence and desired outcomes central to service design.
What you will need to bring:
- Relevant experience in supported living operations, service development, commissioning or business development within social care.
- An understanding of how good supported living services work in practice, and the ability to connect that understanding with opportunities for growth.
- Experience of opening services, developing referral relationships, contributing to tenders or working with housing partners would be particularly useful.
- The ability to build trust, organise competing priorities and follow an opportunity through from an initial conversation to a practical plan.
- Confidence discussing both the quality of support and the commercial considerations behind a sustainable service.
If you enjoy building services rather than solely managing established provision, this role offers you a clear development-focused remit.
