Technical Artist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a versatile and skilled Technical Artist to bridge the gap between art and technology within their innovative studio. This hybrid role is crucial for optimizing art pipelines, developing tools, and ensuring artistic assets perform efficiently within the game engine. You will work collaboratively with both the art and engineering teams, troubleshooting technical challenges and implementing solutions that enhance the quality and performance of their visually rich projects. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain art pipelines, tools, and scripts to improve workflow efficiency for the art team.
• Optimize 3D assets, textures, and materials for real-time performance in game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine , Unity).
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to art asset integration, shaders, lighting, and rendering.
• Collaborate with engineers to implement new features and functionalities related to visual technology.
• Create and manage shaders, materials, and visual effects systems.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the art team, ensuring adherence to best practices and performance budgets.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Technical Artist in the game development or VFX industry.
• Strong proficiency in 3D modeling, texturing, and rendering principles.
• Expertise in scripting languages such as Python , MEL, or C#.
• In-depth knowledge of game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity, including their technical capabilities and limitations.
• Experience with shader development and material creation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both artists and programmers in a hybrid setting.
