Technical Director - Animation

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Director to drive innovation in animation pipelines for their Arts & Entertainment studio. This is a fully remote role where you will be responsible for the technical infrastructure and tools that enable our artists to create stunning animated content. You will bridge the gap between creative vision and technical execution, developing solutions that enhance efficiency, quality, and workflow. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of animation pipelines and workflows.
• Develop custom tools, scripts, and plugins to support artists and streamline production processes using languages like Python and C++.
• Collaborate with artists and production management to identify technical challenges and propose effective solutions.
• Optimize software and hardware performance to ensure efficient rendering and asset management.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide support to the animation team.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices in animation and VFX.

Requirements

• Significant experience as a Technical Director or Senior Pipeline TD in animation or VFX.
• Strong proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and experience with C++.
• Expertise in industry-standard animation software (e.g., Maya, Houdini) and renderers.
• Solid understanding of 3D graphics principles, rendering techniques, and asset management systems.
• Proven ability to design, develop, and deploy robust technical solutions in a production environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative team setting.
