About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Engineer to join their established Installation & Maintenance team in Portsmouth . This role is crucial for the deployment and upkeep of vital communication networks, ensuring reliable service for businesses and individuals. You will be involved in installing, testing, and maintaining a range of telecommunications equipment, from fibre optics to broadband infrastructure. This hands-on position offers a great opportunity to work with advanced communication technology and contribute to the essential infrastructure of the region around Portsmouth .
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and commission telecommunications equipment, including fibre optic cables, routers, and switches.
- Perform routine maintenance and diagnostics on communication systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network and line faults, identifying the root cause of issues.
- Conduct signal testing and quality checks to meet service level agreements.
- Work with underground and overhead cabling systems, adhering to safety standards.
- Maintain detailed records of installations, maintenance, and repairs performed.
Requirements
- Previous experience in telecommunications installation or maintenance.
- Good understanding of fibre optics, copper cabling, and networking principles.
- Proficiency with testing equipment such as OTDRs and signal meters.
- Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
- A valid UK driving license is required for travel to sites in and around Portsmouth .
- Certification in relevant telecommunications or networking disciplines is a plus.
