Telecommunications Field Technician

About the Role

Our client requires a diligent Telecommunications Field Technician to support their network infrastructure operations based out of Milton Keynes . This position involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment, including fibre optic cables, routers, and switches, for both business and residential customers. You will play a vital role in ensuring reliable connectivity and high-speed internet services across the region. The ideal candidate is technically adept, customer-focused, and capable of working independently in various field environments, contributing to a seamless service experience for clients throughout Milton Keynes and its surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test telecommunications equipment, including broadband modems, routers, and fibre optic termination points.
• Perform diagnostic tests to identify and resolve network connectivity issues and service interruptions.
• Respond to customer service calls for repairs, upgrades, and new installations in a timely manner.
• Manage inventory of equipment and tools, ensuring accurate record-keeping for all assigned tasks.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and industry best practices during field operations.
• Provide basic technical support and customer education on service usage.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a telecommunications or IT support role.
• Familiarity with fibre optic cabling, network protocols (TCP/IP), and common networking hardware.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple appointments in the Milton Keynes area.
• A valid UK driving licence is required for travel to customer premises.
