About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecommunications Field Technician to join their team servicing the Birmingham area. In this essential role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment and infrastructure at customer sites. You will be the face of the company, providing excellent service and ensuring that our clients' communication systems operate reliably and efficiently. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys problem-solving in diverse environments and takes pride in delivering high-quality technical support directly to customers, playing a critical part in maintaining vital connectivity services across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and test telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, modems, and associated cabling.
- Perform routine maintenance and diagnostic checks on existing network infrastructure to prevent issues.
- Troubleshoot and repair faults in telecommunication systems, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Provide on-site technical support and assistance to customers, ensuring their satisfaction with the services provided.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company guidelines during site visits and while performing duties.
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including installations, repairs, and customer interactions, using company-specific software.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Field Technician or in a similar role, preferably within the telecoms industry.
- Strong understanding of telecommunications principles, hardware, and installation techniques.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving common network and equipment issues.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
- Must possess a valid UK driving license and a willingness to travel within the designated service area.
- Ability to work independently and manage a schedule of appointments effectively.
