Telecommunications Installation Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Installation Engineer to join their dynamic team in Bristol . This hybrid role focuses on the end-to-end installation, configuration, and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure, including network cabling, equipment, and systems for various business clients. You will be responsible for ensuring robust and reliable communication networks, working both on-site at client locations and remotely for planning, monitoring, and support. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong background in telecommunications who appreciates a balanced work environment offering both field and remote responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test network cabling (e.g., Cat5e, Cat6, fibre optic) according to industry standards.
• Configure and commission telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, VoIP systems, and wireless access points.
• Perform diagnostic tests and troubleshooting to identify and resolve network and system issues.
• Conduct site surveys and assess requirements for new installations or network upgrades.
• Provide remote technical support and assistance to clients and on-site teams.
• Maintain accurate documentation of network infrastructure, configurations, and service reports.

Requirements

• Proven experience in telecommunications installation and network engineering.
• Strong knowledge of network cabling standards, protocols, and hardware.
• Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting networking devices (routers, switches, firewalls).
• Experience with VoIP systems and wireless technologies is highly desirable.
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
