About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Telecoms Field Service Engineer to serve the Newcastle upon Tyne area. This role is crucial for ensuring the seamless installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment at customer sites. You will be the face of our client's service delivery, providing expert technical support and ensuring customer satisfaction. This hands-on position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of service in a geographically defined area. The role is field-based, demanding regular travel to various customer locations throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and maintain telecommunications equipment and infrastructure at customer premises.
- Diagnose and resolve technical faults and issues efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on network hardware and systems.
- Provide on-site technical support and guidance to customers, explaining technical issues and solutions clearly.
- Manage and maintain a stock of necessary spare parts and tools, ensuring accurate inventory records.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company procedures while working on customer sites.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Field Service Engineer or in a similar technical support role within the telecoms industry.
- Strong understanding of telecommunications systems, including fibre optics, copper networks, and related hardware.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and test equipment.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to build rapport with clients.
- A valid UK driving license and the ability to travel extensively within the Newcastle upon Tyne region.
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours when required for critical service needs.
