Telecoms Field Service Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a hands-on and reliable Telecoms Field Service Engineer to join their team, servicing clients primarily in and around Southampton . This role involves traveling to customer sites to install, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment and systems. You will be the face of the company on the ground, ensuring that our client's services are delivered with the highest level of technical expertise and customer satisfaction. This is a practical, on-the-go role for someone who enjoys problem-solving in diverse environments within the telecoms industry .

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and configure telecommunications equipment at customer premises.
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and diagnostic tests on network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and repair faults on a wide range of telecoms systems , including copper, fibre, and wireless technologies.
• Respond to service calls efficiently and professionally, ensuring minimal disruption to client operations.
• Maintain accurate service records and report on work completed, parts used, and any outstanding issues.
• Provide basic training and support to end-users on the operation of installed equipment.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer or in a similar technical support role within telecoms .
• Strong understanding of telecommunications cabling, equipment, and installation procedures.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing faults on analogue and digital systems.
• Excellent practical skills and ability to work with hand and power tools safely.
• Good communication and customer service skills, with a polite and professional demeanor.
• A valid UK driving license and willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
