About the Role

Our client seeks a diligent and technically adept Telecoms Field Technician to join their operational team based in Birmingham . This role is crucial for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment and infrastructure across various client sites. You will be the frontline representative, ensuring the seamless operation of networks and providing essential technical support to customers in the West Midlands . The ideal candidate is hands-on, possesses excellent problem-solving skills, and is committed to delivering high-quality service in a mobile capacity, contributing to the efficient functioning of our client's telecommunications services throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, test, and commission telecommunications equipment, including fibre optic cabling, routers, and modems, at customer premises.
• Perform routine maintenance and diagnostic checks on network infrastructure to prevent service disruptions.
• Respond promptly to service calls, troubleshoot faults, and carry out necessary repairs to restore connectivity.
• Adhere to safety procedures and industry best practices while working on-site.
• Provide clear and concise reports on work performed, including detailed logs of issues and resolutions.
• Assist customers with technical queries and provide basic training on equipment usage.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Field Technician or in a similar hands-on role within the telecoms industry.
• Strong understanding of copper and fibre optic cabling, network hardware, and installation techniques.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and test equipment for fault finding.
• Ability to interpret technical diagrams and schematics.
• A full, clean UK driving license is essential for travel between sites in and around Birmingham .
• Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a professional attitude.
