Telecoms Installation Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a practical and detail-oriented Telecoms Installation Engineer to join their field operations team in Nottingham . This role involves the physical installation and commissioning of telecommunications equipment at various customer sites, including businesses and residential properties. You will be responsible for ensuring that installations are completed to the highest standards, meeting all technical specifications and safety requirements. The ideal candidate is adept with tools, enjoys hands-on work, and possesses a good understanding of networking and cabling principles within the telecoms sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test telecommunications equipment, including routers, modems, switches, and access points.
• Run and terminate network cabling (Ethernet, Coaxial, Fiber Optic) according to industry standards.
• Perform site surveys to assess installation requirements and identify potential challenges.
• Troubleshoot and resolve installation-related issues to ensure seamless service activation.
• Adhere to all company health and safety policies and procedures.
• Provide basic customer training on the use of newly installed equipment.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a similar installation or technical role within the telecoms or IT infrastructure field.
• Strong knowledge of networking hardware, cabling standards, and installation best practices.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools relevant to the trade.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Must possess a valid UK driving license and be comfortable travelling to sites within the Nottingham region.
• Excellent manual dexterity and problem-solving capabilities.
