Telecoms Network Administrator

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Telecoms Network Administrator to manage and maintain their critical network infrastructure in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire . This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation, security, and reliability of the company's telecommunications systems. You will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, performance monitoring, and proactive upkeep of the network, working closely with the IT and engineering teams. This position requires a hands-on approach and a strong understanding of network hardware and software within a busy operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain the company's telecommunications network , including routers, switches, servers, and associated equipment.
• Monitor network performance, uptime, and resource utilization, implementing adjustments to optimize efficiency.
• Implement and enforce network security policies, including firewall management and access controls.
• Perform regular backups and disaster recovery planning for network systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents and problems in a timely manner.
• Manage vendor relationships for network hardware and software support.
• Document network configurations, procedures, and incident reports.

Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in network administration , specifically within a telecoms environment.
• Proficiency with network hardware from major vendors and various operating systems.
• Solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP) and network security principles.
• Experience with VoIP systems and their administration is highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
