Telecoms Systems Administrator

About the Role

Our client is seeking a reliable and technically proficient Telecoms Systems Administrator to manage and maintain their critical IT and network infrastructure in Derby, Derbyshire . This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation and security of the systems that support their telecommunications services. You will be responsible for system installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting, working within a dedicated IT team to support business operations throughout the Derby region. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong foundation in system administration and a commitment to maintaining high levels of system availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and related infrastructure.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls across various systems.
• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance tuning measures.
• Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, providing timely resolution.
• Implement and maintain security measures, including firewalls and antivirus software, to protect systems.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar IT support role.
• Strong knowledge of server hardware , operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), and networking concepts.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
• Familiarity with network protocols, Active Directory, and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server+, MCSA) are a plus.
