Toolroom Operative / Toolmaker Oldbury, West Midlands £33,000 per annum Monday–Friday | Days | 37 hours per week | On-Site
MET Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Toolroom Operative / Toolmaker to join a well-established manufacturing business in Oldbury.
This is a hands-on position within a busy engineering and manufacturing environment, supporting production through the manufacture, repair and maintenance of tooling and components.
Please note: previous hands-on experience working with pre-pierce and cut tooling is essential for this vacancy.
The role
Working as part of the Toolroom team, you will:
Manufacture, maintain, repair and fault-find press and shear tooling Work specifically with pre-pierce and cut tooling Operate CNC and conventional/manual Toolroom machinery Undertake surface grinding, milling and turning Work with fixturing and wire EDM Read and interpret engineering drawings Work accurately to specified tolerances Support tooling breakdowns to minimise production downtime Manufacture new components and tooling to meet production requirements Contribute to continuous improvement across the Toolroom and wider manufacturing operation
What we're looking for
We are specifically looking for candidates with a strong Toolroom / Toolmaking background within a manufacturing environment.
You will need:
Previous experience with pre-pierce and cut tooling – essential Experience in press/shear tool manufacture, maintenance and fault finding CNC and manual machining experience Surface grinding, milling and turning experience Ability to read engineering drawings and work accurately to tolerances Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills A practical, hands-on approach Ability to work effectively within a busy production environment Forklift and overhead crane experience would be useful but isn't essential, as training can be provided.
Hours & package
Salary: £33,000 per annum Hours: Monday–Thursday 7:30am–4:00pm; Friday 7:30am–12:30pm — 37 hours per week.
