Trainee CNC Machinist

About the Role

Our client, a precision engineering manufacturer in Derby , is looking for a dedicated Trainee CNC Machinist to join their skilled team. This apprenticeship offers a comprehensive introduction to Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining, a critical skill in modern manufacturing. You will be trained to operate and set CNC machines, producing high-quality components under the supervision of experienced machinists. Key Responsibilities

• Learn to operate and set CNC milling and turning machines.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and CAD/CAM data.
• Perform quality checks on manufactured components using precision measuring equipment.
• Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of CNC machinery.
• Work closely with production engineers to ensure efficient machining processes.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to strict safety protocols.

Requirements

• A keen interest in precision engineering and manufacturing processes.
• Good spatial awareness and attention to detail.
• Ability to work methodically and follow complex instructions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to learn new technologies.
• GCSEs at grades A*-C (or equivalent) in Maths, English, and ideally a science or technical subject are preferred.
