Start Your Journey with the British Transport Police (BTP)

Join a Team Where Your Voice and Values Matter

Are you a current or former Police Officer looking for a new challenge or thinking about returning to policing? British Transport Police (BTP) are recruiting community-focused, compassionate officers to join us as uniformed Police Constables in London and the South East.

Make a Real Impact

At BTP, we champion modern, people-first policing. From safeguarding passengers to supporting vulnerable individuals and preventing crime, no two days are the same. Our officers are more than law enforcers; they are listeners, problem-solvers, and protectors of community trust.

This is a role where your empathy, communication skills, and emotional intelligence are every bit as valued as your operational experience.

Why Transfer to British Transport Police?

We recognise that transferring force is a significant career decision. That's why we are committed to supporting you from your initial enquiry through to your first months in post.

Our dedicated recruitment team will keep in regular contact throughout the process, providing clear and honest information about roles, locations, training requirements and operational expectations. We believe in having open conversations from the outset, helping you make an informed decision about your move to BTP.

Every transferee is supported by a named point of contact and will have access to guidance from experienced colleagues who understand the transition process. We take the time to understand your skills, experience and career aspirations to help identify the opportunities that best match your background and ambitions.

Once you join BTP, our support continues. We actively seek feedback from new transferees to understand their experience and continually improve our recruitment and onboarding processes.

This approach has helped officers successfully transition into BTP, settle quickly into their new roles and continue developing rewarding careers within a specialist national police force.
