Transport Planner

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and analytical Transport Planner to join their logistics team in Leeds . This role is crucial for optimizing the efficiency and effectiveness of our transportation network. You will be responsible for planning daily delivery and collection routes, ensuring resource allocation is maximized, and all transport operations run smoothly and cost-effectively. Working closely with the operations and warehouse teams, you will play a key part in meeting delivery targets and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction within the West Yorkshire region.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and optimize daily transport routes and schedules for a fleet of vehicles, considering delivery windows, traffic, and vehicle capacity.
• Utilize transport management systems (TMS) and routing software to create efficient and cost-effective delivery plans.
• Allocate resources, including drivers and vehicles, to specific routes and tasks, ensuring operational readiness.
• Monitor ongoing deliveries, track vehicle progress, and proactively address any deviations or issues that may arise.
• Liaise with warehouse staff to coordinate loading schedules and ensure timely dispatch of goods.
• Analyze transport data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost savings and service improvements.

Requirements

• Previous experience in transport planning, logistics coordination, or a similar role is essential.
• Proficiency in using transport management systems (TMS) and route optimization software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to coordinate effectively with drivers and other departments.
• A good understanding of UK road networks and geographical areas covered by the operations.
