About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous and analytical Underwriter to join their growing Commercial Lines division based in Coventry . In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating and selecting risks for insurance policies, ensuring profitability and adherence to the company's underwriting guidelines. You will work closely with brokers and agents to build strong relationships and provide expert advice on risk appetite and policy terms. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the strategic growth of the business within the West Midlands, utilizing your deep understanding of commercial insurance products and risk assessment techniques, all while being part of a well-established insurance firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and underwrite new and renewal commercial insurance business according to company guidelines.
- Analyze financial statements, risk assessments, and other relevant data to determine policy terms and pricing.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and agents to facilitate business growth.
- Collaborate with claims and actuarial departments to ensure accurate pricing and reserving.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities to inform underwriting strategy.
- Provide technical expertise and support to the sales and support teams.
Requirements
- Significant experience as an Underwriter , with a focus on Commercial Lines .
- Thorough knowledge of property, casualty, and liability insurance products.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
- Commitment to continuous professional development, ideally holding or working towards CII qualifications.
- Proven ability to manage a portfolio of risks effectively.
