About the Role
Our client is looking for a proactive and organized Underwriting Assistant to support their underwriting team in Sunderland . This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of the underwriting process by providing administrative and technical support. You will assist underwriters in evaluating risks, processing applications, and managing policy documentation. This hybrid position offers a fantastic opportunity to learn and grow within the insurance industry, combining office-based teamwork with the flexibility of remote work, and contributing to efficient and accurate risk assessment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the underwriting team, including managing correspondence and scheduling meetings.
- Assist underwriters in gathering and organizing necessary documentation for risk assessment, such as applications, financial statements, and property reports.
- Input and maintain accurate data within the underwriting system, ensuring policy details are correctly recorded.
- Help prepare policy documents, endorsements, and renewal offers for review and issuance.
- Liaise with brokers, agents, and clients to clarify information and address queries related to applications and policies.
- Conduct preliminary reviews of simple risks and refer more complex cases to senior underwriters.
Requirements
- Previous administrative experience, preferably within the financial services or insurance sector.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly and efficiently.
- A proactive approach to tasks and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
