Behaviour and Inclusion Specialist

Location: Cardiff, Wales Salary: £92.63 per day Contract Type: Full-Time

Looking for a role that's a little different?

Do you find joy in the unexpected? Can you stay calm when things get chaotic? Are you happiest getting stuck into activities, building genuine relationships, and celebrating the smallest wins that make the biggest difference?

If you've answered yes, keep reading.

We're working with an extraordinary SEN school in Cardiff that is looking for a Behaviour and Inclusion Specialist to join their team. This isn't your typical classroom role. Every day brings something new, whether that's supporting pupils through challenging moments, helping them conquer a new skill, exploring the outdoors, or finding creative ways to engage learners who see the world differently.

This role would suit someone with a great sense of humour, a calm head, plenty of patience, and a genuine belief that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed.

The Role

As a Behaviour and Inclusion Specialist, you'll work alongside experienced SEN teachers and behaviour support professionals, supporting learners aged 12–19 with a range of Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and complex behavioural needs.

Classes are small, relationships are everything, and no two days look the same.

You'll be:

Supporting pupils to engage positively in learning and daily activities. Helping create structured, nurturing, and inclusive environments. Building strong, trusting relationships through consistency and patience. Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour strategies. Assisting with personalised learning programmes and classroom activities. Providing 1:1 support where needed. Getting involved in practical, creative, and outdoor learning experiences. Working as part of a close-knit team that celebrates progress in all its forms. This is a role where you'll measure success differently. Sometimes it's completing a lesson. Sometimes it's joining an activity. Sometimes it's simply helping a young person have a better day than yesterday.

We'd Love to Hear From You If...

You are the kind of person who:

Doesn't mind getting muddy, joining in, and leading by example. Can think on your feet when plans inevitably change. Sees behaviour as communication and approaches challenges with curiosity rather than judgement. Brings energy, resilience, and positivity into every situation. Has a healthy sense of humour and doesn't take themselves too seriously. Genuinely wants to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people.

Essential Requirements

Previous experience supporting children or young people with ALN/SEN. Experience working with challenging or complex behaviours is highly desirable. A positive, adaptable, and proactive attitude. Enhanced Child and Adult DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one). Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC). References available upon request. Full UK driving licence and access to your own transport.

The school is passionate about getting pupils out into the community, embracing outdoor learning opportunities, and creating experiences that build confidence, independence, and life skills. From outdoor activities and local excursions to hands-on projects and enrichment opportunities, there's a strong belief that some of the best learning happens beyond four walls.
