About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative and visionary Urban Design Architect to lead strategic development initiatives within their practice in Oxford . This role involves shaping the future of urban environments through masterplanning, placemaking, and the design of public realm and new developments. You will collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including local authorities, developers, and community groups, to create sustainable, vibrant, and people-centred urban spaces. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a creative approach to complex urban challenges, and the ability to work effectively within an established, office-based team. This is an exceptional opportunity to influence the physical form and social fabric of cities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop strategic masterplans and urban design frameworks for large-scale developments and regeneration projects.
- Analyse urban contexts, identifying opportunities and constraints for positive design interventions.
- Lead the design of public realm, streetscapes, and key urban spaces, ensuring high-quality placemaking.
- Collaborate with architects, landscape architects, engineers, and other consultants to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Engage with stakeholders, including clients, public bodies, and community representatives, to build consensus and gather input.
- Prepare compelling design presentations, visualizations, and policy documents to communicate urban design proposals.
Requirements
- Qualified Architect with a postgraduate qualification or significant experience in Urban Design or Masterplanning.
- Proven track record in developing and delivering complex urban design projects.
- Strong understanding of urban theory, planning policy, sustainable urbanism, and placemaking principles.
- Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and GIS tools.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, suitable for an office-based collaborative role.
- Experience in community consultation and stakeholder engagement processes.
