Urban Design Architect

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Urban Design Architect to contribute to transformative placemaking projects in and around Derby . This role involves shaping the public realm, master planning new developments, and enhancing the urban fabric to create sustainable, vibrant, and people-centred environments. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, bringing your expertise in urban design principles and architectural integration to bear on significant regeneration and development schemes. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement master plans and urban design strategies for complex sites.
• Create compelling visualisations and design guidelines for public realm improvements and new developments.
• Integrate architectural design with landscape, transport, and environmental considerations.
• Engage with stakeholders, including local authorities, communities, and developers, to build consensus.
• Ensure urban designs adhere to sustainability principles, accessibility standards, and local planning policies.
• Collaborate with architects, landscape architects, and planners to ensure cohesive project delivery.

Requirements

• Qualified Architect or Urban Designer with a strong portfolio in urban design and master planning.
• Proven experience in developing design frameworks for regeneration and new communities.
• Proficiency in urban design software, GIS, and graphic presentation tools.
• Understanding of urban design theory, placemaking, and sustainable urban development.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
• Knowledge of planning policy and the development process in the Derby area.
