Viticulturist and Vineyard Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a passionate and experienced Viticulturist and Vineyard Manager to lead the cultivation and management of their vineyards near Cambridge . This role involves the meticulous care of grapevines from planting to harvest, focusing on producing high-quality fruit for premium wine production. You will be responsible for vineyard planning, canopy management, pest and disease control, and ensuring the overall health and productivity of the vines. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement vineyard management plans, including planting, trellising, and irrigation strategies.
• Manage canopy growth through pruning, shoot thinning, and leaf removal to optimize fruit quality.
• Monitor vine health, identify and manage pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
• Oversee harvesting operations, ensuring optimal fruit ripeness and quality.
• Manage vineyard staff, providing training and supervision on all vineyard tasks.
• Maintain accurate records of vineyard activities, inputs, and yield data.

Requirements

• Degree in Viticulture, Horticulture, Plant Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in vineyard management.
• Strong knowledge of grapevine physiology, soil science, and pest/disease management.
• Experience with vineyard machinery operation and maintenance.
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
