About the Role
Our client is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Viticulturist to manage their growing vineyard operations near Cambridge . This role is critical to producing high-quality grapes for premium wine production. You will oversee all aspects of vineyard management, from soil preparation and vine cultivation to canopy management, pest and disease control, and harvesting. This hands-on position requires a blend of horticultural expertise, scientific understanding, and practical vineyard experience. You will play a vital role in shaping the future of viticulture in the Cambridgeshire region, working within an innovative and dedicated agricultural enterprise committed to excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all vineyard operations, including pruning, training, shoot thinning, and leaf removal.
- Implement effective strategies for pest and disease management , irrigation, and fertilization.
- Monitor vine health and grape development throughout the growing season, using appropriate diagnostic tools.
- Plan and oversee the grape harvesting process to ensure optimal quality and timing.
- Maintain detailed records of vineyard activities, inputs, and yields for analysis and future planning.
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Viticulture, Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in vineyard management or a closely related field.
- Strong understanding of grapevine physiology, soil science, and integrated pest management principles.
- Proficiency in vineyard equipment operation and maintenance.
- Excellent analytical, observational, and problem-solving skills.
