The Opportunity Our client, a leading organisation in Cheltenham, is looking for an experienced Voice & Network Engineer to join its established infrastructure team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong Cisco voice experience who wants to broaden their technical knowledge across enterprise networking, security and wider infrastructure technologies.

You'll play a key role in supporting and maintaining business-critical voice systems, whilst developing your exposure to LAN, WAN, firewalls and wider network infrastructure.

Working within a close-knit team of experienced engineers, you'll contribute to both day-to-day operational support and technical projects in an environment where reliability, collaboration and continuous improvement are key.

What You'll Be Doing

Provide technical support, troubleshooting and maintenance across enterprise voice and unified communications systems. Support and administer Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unity and Microsoft Teams environments. Investigate and resolve complex voice-related incidents, ensuring minimal disruption to critical services. Support SIP connectivity, call routing and wider voice networking technologies. Work alongside experienced network engineers to develop your understanding of LAN, WAN, routing, switching and firewall technologies. Contribute to the configuration, maintenance, monitoring and optimisation of network infrastructure. Participate in BAU activities, infrastructure upgrades and technical improvement projects. Collaborate with internal teams and third-party suppliers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. Participate in an on-call rota, providing support for critical incidents across the wider network estate. What We're Looking For We're particularly interested in speaking with engineers who have a strong background in enterprise voice technologies and a genuine interest in expanding their networking expertise.

Essential Experience:

Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Call Manager (CUCM) and Cisco Unity. Experience supporting Microsoft Teams and unified communications environments. Good understanding of SIP, VoIP and voice networking technologies. Experience troubleshooting complex voice infrastructure issues. Working knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies and general networking principles. An understanding of routing, switching and firewall technologies, with a willingness to develop further. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. A collaborative approach and genuine enthusiasm for learning new technologies. Desirable Experience:

Cisco UCCE or wider Cisco collaboration technologies. Cisco routing and switching. Firewalls including Cisco, Palo Alto or Check Point. Cisco ISE, 802.1X or network access control. Cisco wireless networking. SolarWinds or similar network monitoring tools. Formal certifications are not essential. Practical technical experience, problem-solving ability and the right attitude are more important.

What Makes Someone Successful Here?

Our client is looking for someone who is naturally inquisitive, enjoys understanding how technologies work and isn't afraid to ask why.

You'll thrive in this environment if you:

Enjoy getting to the root cause of technical problems rather than simply applying fixes. Take ownership of issues and proactively investigate solutions. Are comfortable working across different technologies and learning from colleagues. Communicate clearly and enjoy contributing to a collaborative team. Want to continue developing your technical expertise beyond your core specialism. Why Join?

Broaden your technical expertise: Gain exposure to networking, wireless, cloud and security technologies alongside your core voice responsibilities. Work with business-critical systems: Support infrastructure where availability and reliability are essential. Experienced and supportive team: Join a collaborative group of engineers who share knowledge and support one another. A balance of BAU and project work: Contribute to technical improvements, upgrades and wider infrastructure projects. Hybrid working and competitive salary: Enjoy hybrid working from Cheltenham, with a salary of up to £55,000. Interested?

If you're an experienced Voice Engineer looking for an opportunity to take greater technical ownership, expand your networking knowledge and work within a supportive infrastructure team, we'd be keen to hear from you.
