VoIP Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced VoIP Engineer to join their collaborative IT team based in Liverpool . This hybrid role involves designing, implementing, and managing Voice over IP systems and related infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our voice communication services, supporting both internal users and external clients. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of VoIP technologies, network protocols, and unified communications. Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain VoIP infrastructure, including PBX systems, session border controllers (SBCs), and gateways.
• Configure and troubleshoot VoIP endpoints, call routing, and voicemail systems.
• Monitor VoIP network performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to ensure high-quality voice services.
• Manage and secure the VoIP infrastructure against unauthorized access and threats.
• Collaborate with network and systems teams to ensure seamless integration of VoIP services.
• Provide technical support and training to end-users on VoIP systems and features.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a VoIP Engineer or in a similar network-focused role.
• Strong knowledge of VoIP protocols such as SIP, RTP, H.323, and MGCP.
• Experience with VoIP platforms like Cisco, Avaya, or Asterisk.
• Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, QoS) and network security best practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex voice communication issues.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA Voice, CCNP Collaboration) are a plus.
