VoIP Network Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated VoIP Network Engineer to join their team based in Edinburgh . This role is integral to maintaining and enhancing the Voice over IP infrastructure that supports critical business communications. You will be responsible for the deployment, configuration, and ongoing support of VoIP systems, ensuring high availability and clear call quality. This is an on-site position, offering a chance to be an essential part of the technical operations team in Edinburgh .

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage VoIP networks, including PBX systems, gateways, and softswitches.
• Monitor VoIP system performance, diagnose and resolve call quality issues, and troubleshoot network connectivity problems.
• Configure and maintain VoIP endpoints, codecs, and QoS policies to ensure optimal performance.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configuration guides, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Collaborate with IT teams to integrate VoIP services with existing network infrastructure.
• Stay informed about new VoIP technologies and best practices to recommend system enhancements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience as a VoIP Engineer or Network Engineer with a focus on voice communications.
• Strong understanding of VoIP protocols such as SIP, RTP, and H.323.
• Hands-on experience with major VoIP platforms (e.g., Cisco CallManager, Asterisk) and telephony hardware.
• Knowledge of IP networking, QoS, and security principles as they apply to VoIP.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
