About the Role
Our client is looking for a detail-oriented VoIP Systems Administrator to manage and maintain their Voice over IP communication systems in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK . This role is crucial for ensuring the seamless operation of our internal and external voice communications, supporting business continuity and productivity. You will be responsible for the configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of our VoIP infrastructure, working within a hybrid model that blends office-based collaboration with remote flexibility. Key Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, and maintain VoIP platforms (e.g., Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, Cisco Call Manager).
- Monitor VoIP system performance, ensuring high availability and quality of service (QoS).
- Troubleshoot and resolve voice communication issues, including call quality problems, user errors, and system malfunctions.
- Manage user accounts, extensions, call routing, voicemail, and other system features.
- Implement security measures to protect the VoIP infrastructure from unauthorized access and threats.
- Plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and migrations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in administering and supporting VoIP systems.
- Strong understanding of VoIP protocols such as SIP, RTP, and H.323.
- Familiarity with PBX systems, IP telephony, and unified communications platforms.
- Experience with network infrastructure, including TCP/IP, VLANs, and QoS.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
